About

Hi there, I’m Guy Whilden.

I chose to name my business after myself because it is important to me that my current and future clients understand that they will always be working with me.

Not random agents or corporate call center reps.

You will talk to me.

I always put my client’s best interest first. I have no loyalty to any insurance companies. I have some I like more than others, but I do what I do to help people.

My career in the financial services industry started in 2010. I started out as a career agent for Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company.

I left Mass Mutual at the end of 2013 to focus my practice on other areas of financial planning. I still offer all the other resources and products a financial planner does, but I have a specific interest in making sure people know they can sell their life insurance policies.

My interest in life settlements happened after I had my first life insurance death claim.

It was my father.

He had multiple policies that his various life insurance agent buddies had sold him over the years.

It happened that a couple of them were Mass Mutual policies. When I joined Mass Mutual, his friend was retiring so he decided to make me the servicing agent on my dad’s two policies.

Mass Mutual did exactly what they were supposed to and paid his claims. However, there were a couple of other
policies through two different companies.

Those policies had recently lapsed.

The agents on those policies were long gone and there was no one looking out for his best interest. Had we known that selling the policies was an option then clearly, we would have done so.

My father would have been an ideal candidate to sell his policies.

He was only 63 years old but essentially no chance of him living very long once he became sick. As the years went on, I made it a point to ask my older clients and even my friend’s parents about their life insurance policies. At least 90% had all lapsed or surrendered policies.

Repeatedly, I heard the same reasons.

Things had changed and they didn’t need insurance anymore or they didn’t want or couldn’t afford to continue
paying premiums.

Many didn’t realize that when they retired that they could have continued their coverage despite leaving their group plans.

I heard the same stories, and it suddenly became clear to me why insurance companies made so much money.

My goal is to make it the new normal for people to sell their life insurance policies and make sure they are getting the most money possible.
